Topographical research at Gortyna (Crete) is a branch of the Sapienza and Unitelma Sapienza archaeological mission, formerly directed by E. Lippolis and currently coordinated by R. Sassu. The aim of our research is to study the topography of the city area and the surrounding territory and to study urban development between the Hellenistic and Roman Imperial periods. To this end, digital procedures based on the use of different types of sensors mounted on UAV have been developed.
