The project is dedicated to an experimental digitisation of the Thesaurus linguae Latinae (ThlL), the most important Latin lexicon, started in 1900 and still ongoing, covering all surviving Latin texts from the earliest attestations of this language to the 7th century AD. The objective of the project is the creation of an open-access online infrastructure for both data input and visualisation. More specifically, the research team will develop a data input (back-end) interface based on the software Cadmus, designed by Daniele Fusi to build up complex databases; the mark-up model to be designed will allow for the semi-automatic recognition of the structural components of ThlL entries, including citations, and for additional linguistic and philological encoding. Subsequently, the project will create a user (front-end) interface that enables the visualisation of the data along with a set of search functionalities substantially increasing the current lexicographic, linguistic, and textual critical research possibilities.
