The project “Persistenza dell’antico” aims to systematically reorganize, analyze, and
digitize the extensive and still little-known heritage of scientific collections held within
the Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Antichità. These collections consist of heterogeneous
materials, such as archives, artefacts, notebooks, excavation diaries, and survey records,
and concern all research areas of the Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Antichità (from prehistory
to the archaeology of Rome and Lazio, from Etruscology to Roman epigraphy, from Classical and
Byzantine philology to Iranian philology, etc.). The analysis, cataloguing, and digitization
of these documents will make them accessible to scholars and will contribute not only to a
significant increase in knowledge across the various disciplinary fields, but will also make
it possible to identify new paths of interdisciplinary research.
